Energy Conservation

Energy costs can make up a significant part of your household expenses, especially in the summer heat of Texas. Denton Municipal Electric (DME) works to maintain high quality, reliable, and affordable electric service. Here you will find information about how to lower your energy bill, including both electricity and natural gas use.

Free Home Energy Audits

The City offers a free home energy audit to utility customers in good standing, which can contribute to your lower electric bill. A certified energy auditor will utilize diagnostic tools to reveal thermal flaws in your home. Participants receive a detailed report, including prioritized recommendations for improving energy efficiency. Types of diagnostic tools used include:

  • Blower Door Test: Auditors use blower door tests to help determine a home's air tightness.
  • Thermal Imaging: A thermal imaging camera, in conjunction with a blower door test can quickly identify thermal flaws in your home's shell.

To schedule a residential or commercial water audit, fill out and submit the form below, and a representative will call you. For inquiries specific to your utility account, contact Customer Service at (940) 349-8700 or CustomerService@cityofdenton.com.
