Users Can Expect a Friendlier Online Experience

DENTON, TX, Dec. 12, 2016 - On Dec. 12, the City of Denton launched the all-new www.cityofdenton.com. Built with purpose and intuitive navigation, the City’s new website offers a more user-centric experience. The website is organized by areas of interest, allowing users to find more information related to what they are looking for; and, with new tools and features, users can more easily accomplish tasks within the website.
Under the new navigation, users can find information specific to residents and businesses, including programs, services, and education. Centralized under Residents is content about residential services, Parks and Recreation, health and safety, the Denton Public Library, and transportation, as well as a new “Make a Difference” section with opportunities for residents to get involved in our community and help improve our environment. Business includes content related to soliciting business with the City, economic development, the development review process, permits and licenses, and commercial services.
The Government area makes content related to the organization more accessible, including information about City officials, ordinances, and boards, commissions, and committees. The area also features a new “Strategic Initiatives” section to centralize content related to the City of Denton Strategic Plan, comprehensive planning, and the Capital Improvement Program; and, under “Open Government,” users can easily find City data, financial documents, agendas, and policies, plus submit a request for other open records.
Important tasks, such as Pay My Bill and Apply for Jobs, can be accomplished from any page. For an improved user experience, the website also provides the following tools and features:

  • Report an Issue serves as a gateway for reporting common issues, including non-emergency crimes, street light outages, and code violations.
  • Stay Updated is a portal to sign up for email subscriptions with the City, register for CodeRED emergency notifications, and follow the City’s social media channels.
  • Maps allows users to find nearby parks and trails, rec and aquatic centers, and sports facilities, as well as locate the closest library or recycling drop-off center. Users can also view the locations of other prominent City facilities, plus current bond projects funded by the Denton Capital Improvement Program.
  • Frequently asked questions are answered on related content pages, and the centralized FAQ serves as a database to all common inquiries.
  • In Calendars, users can view upcoming events or programs and sort by area of interest.
  • Helpful Resources, such as links to related content, and Important Documents that need to be downloaded can easily be found on pages.
Also worth noting is the improved mobile experience. More than one-third of the City’s users access the website from a mobile device, so the City set out to ensure accessibility and a consistent experience across all platforms. The mobile version of the website uses large icons and buttons for users’ convenience, and the navigation menu can easily be found from any page.
The City is committed to providing an engaging, easy-to-use website for its users and will continue to develop the website’s tools and resources. Begin using the new and improved website ...
