SHOP Denton

SHOP Denton aims to increase support for local businesses. SHOP Denton encourages those who live and work in Denton to make a conscious effort to shop here, empowering our community to help itself. Business owners, when you join the SHOP Denton program you show your customers that you support the vitality of Denton.

Here's how to join:

  • Complete a business profile and return to the Denton Economic Development Department.
  • Add the SHOP Denton marker to your promotional materials. 
  • Proudly display the SHOP Denton window cling near your main entrance. The cling will be provided to you upon receiving your business profile.

Facts about shopping locally

  • When you shop in Denton, you support local business growth. Strong, healthy businesses are able to provide more jobs and expand their services.
  • Each time you spend money on dining, retail, or entertainment, you are charged an 8.25 percent sales tax. A portion of that sales tax goes to the city in which you buy the goods or services. When you shop in Denton, you support our city's services such as police, fire, streets, libraries, and parks.
  • Only one in six adults purchases locally available products and services. If just half the Denton population spent $50 each month in Denton's independently owned stores, their purchases would generate more than $6.5 million dollars per year in sales.
